Update on Drought
We’ve been lucky enough to get rain in Glendale lately, but that doesn’t mean the water supply shortage is over. Before the rain, Glendale’s water supply was solely dependent on water from the Colorado River. Since the rain and snow in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, we have more supply projected to come from the State Water Project, but the Colorado River system is still in a serious shortage.
Outdoor watering will remain 2 days per week, Tuesdays and Saturdays, for no more than 10 minutes per watering station at a maximum, but there is still no need to water when your soil is moist. Ordering rain barrels is encouraged for residents to take advantage of the wet weather by capturing the rainfall for their gardens and outdoor watering needs. Keep in mind our gardens need less water and maintenance in the winter months as temperatures drop, so don’t forget to adjust your sprinklers accordingly, or turn them off completely.
We're proud to be recognized by the American Public Power Association as a Smart Energy Provider
We are thrilled to announce that GWP has earned the Smart Energy Provider (SEP) designation for the second time from the American Public Power Association (APPA). The SEP is a best practices designation for utilities that show commitment to and proficiency in energy efficiency, distributed generation, renewable energy, and environmental initiatives.
Currently 101 out of 2,000 Public Power Utilities hold this designation. GWP is honored to be recognized as a utility that demonstrates leading practices in four key disciplines: smart energy program structure; energy efficiency and distributed energy programs; environmental and sustainability initiatives; and customer experience.
South Glendale 4kV/12kV Conversion Project

Demand Response For Your Home
The hottest days of the year are when our customers use the most energy. On these days, we sometimes need to turn to more expensive and less environmentally-friendly energy sources to meet the increased need. When you participate in a Demand Response Program and reduce your energy use, you're helping maintain a reliable power grid for Glendale. And best of all, you can earn rewards. GWP will reward you a $50 program sign-up bonus and $50 each year you participate in Peak Events.
How The Program Works
The Peak Savings Program syncs with your smart thermostat to understand what keeps you comfortable and how your home uses energy. On very hot days when demand for energy peaks, the program may schedule a Peak Event. You are notified of these events 24 hours or more in advance by e-mail. Prior to the event, your smart thermostat automatically pre-cools your home to ensure your comfort, then lowers your energy usage slightly during the peak period to conserve energy. You always have control over your settings, and we’ll never adjust your thermostat on non-event days.

The Turf Replacement Program
With Southern CA still in a drought, we need to continue to save every drop of water that we can. Did you know, just 500 square feet of lawns can take up about 67,500 gallons of water annually? That's about the size of three swimming pools. Removing turf grass is one of the most water conscious adjustments a homeowner can make to reduce their water usage, cost, and take a big step in the right conservation direction.
The Turf Replacement Program rewards landscape designs that incorporate water-saving plants, technology, irrigation systems and hardware. Click on the button below to learn about the rebate and how to replace your lawn with a beautiful California Friendly® and native landscape that helps you save a significant amount of water and provides a home for birds, butterflies, and beneficial pollinators.
Water Wise Gardening Site
With Spring around the corner, we’re here to remind you about our Water Wise Gardening Website! This is a great tool to help you create low-water use landscapes for your home!
