From: City Of HomesteadAt the City of Homestead’s January 25th Council Presentation meeting, Councilwoman Patricia Fairclough-Staggers took the floor to recognize and honor the Homestead High School Broncos varsity football team. As Councilwoman Fairclough-Staggers alma mater, she was especially proud to do this presentation. With drive and spirit, the Broncos went above all expectations in representing Homestead Senior High School and the City of Homestead.
Coach Ronnie Thornton spoke about the Bronco's great accomplishments but also gave a nod to new Homestead High School Principal John Galardi. Coach Thornton remarked on the positive changes that Principal Galardi has made for the school, from the interiors of the school to the school grounds, making a positive difference for students and teachers.
Coach Thornton also recognized and remarked the great teamwork his assistant coaches made in achieving this win. “These assistant coaches deserve a lot of credit. We were a team that was going all the way.” Accolades go to assistant coaches Tony Chatman, Issac Newton, Oscar Clayton, Pat Terry, and George Callender.
Councilwoman Fairclough-Staggers presented a special trophy in recognition of the team’s win and presented the coach and team with a check from the Mayor and Council for $1,450.00 in support of the Broncos football program.
