Inverness, FL — The City of Inverness is closely monitoring the situation with Tropical Storm Helene, working alongside our emergency management team. Please find the following closures:

- Administrative Offices: City Administrative Offices will close at 12 PM on Wednesday, September 25th, 2024, and remain closed on Thursday, September 26th, 2024.

- City Facility CLosures: All City of Inverness Parks & Facilities, including Whispering Pines Pool, Splash Pad, & Valerie Theatre will close at 5 PM on Wednesday, September 25th, 2024, and remain closed on Thursday, September 26th, 2024.

- Sanitation Services: All City sanitation services will run as scheduled on Wednesday, September 25th, 2024. Sanitation Services (Residential & Commercial) will not collect on Thursday, September 26th, 2024. Sanitation Services for Thursday will be collected on Friday, September 27th, 2024.

A State of Emergency has been declared for the State of Florida, including Citrus County. Citrus County has declared a Mandatory evacuation for Zone A or any structure countywide not capable of withstanding tropical storm force winds or greater. tomorrow, Wednesday, September 25, at 2PM. Citizen Information Lines (352-249-2775) will open on Wednesday, September 25, from 8am-10pm. They will reopen Thursday, September 26, at 8AM and remain open until 4PM.

Shelter Information:

The following shelters will open on Wednesday, September 25, at 2PM.

General Population:

- Citrus High School: 600 West Highland Blvd, Inverness, Florida 34452

- Central Ridge Elementary School: 185 West Citrus Springs Blvd, Citrus Springs, Florida 34434

Special Needs:

- Forest Ridge Elementary School: 2927 N Forest Ridge Blvd, Hernando, FL 34442
