Mankato-Mankato's "State of the City" shares 2022 accomplishments, highlights and project updates and looks ahead to what's next for 2023.
"We've wrapped up another year, and much has been accomplished," says City Manager Susan Arntz. "Park and street projects have been completed, transit has been expanded, we've engaged with the community on a number of efforts and more. As we celebrate accomplishments, we also know that a City’s work is never done, and efforts are already underway to achieve our goals for 2023."
- Celebrated and recognized 50 years of the Mahkato Wacipi Powwow.
- Development of the Mankato Land Acknowledgement, another step in reconciliation and healing efforts.
- Two new summer bus routes were created to help expand transit opportunities.
- New technology added: Body Worn Cameras, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (drone) and an online permitting system.
- Ground was broken on two affordable housing units: Sinclair Flats and Lewis Lofts.
- An inclusivity study launched with area partners to help identify strengths and areas of improvement for all ages, races, abilities and genders.
- A community survey, the first step in strategic planning, was completed.
- Continued engagement with area youth.
- A new ladder truck and aircraft airport rescue and firefighting truck vehicle joined the City fleet.

- Riverfront Drive Demonstration Project
- Potential splash pad
- Second Street Corridor Study
