The City of Pensacola Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County to host two free diabetes information sessions and free prediabetes screenings at Sanders Beach-Corinne Jones Resource Center on Tuesday, Jan. 31 from noon to 2 p.m. and at Fricker Resource Center on Wednesday, Feb. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon.
The Florida Department of Health Escambia County's free diabetes prevention education and screenings are offered in conjunction with the Florida Diabetes Prevention Program, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Diabetes Prevention Program, and the American Medical Association STAT Program.
Attendees who are at risk of type 2 diabetes may be eligible to enroll in RESET: Small Steps, Big Change, a free 16-week lifestyle change and monthly maintenance program, valued at $650, led by the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County. The program will focus on healthy eating, stress management and weight loss. Individuals interested in participating may contact Skye Owens at 850-595-6500 ext. 1821 to learn more information and determine eligibility.
Sanders Beach-Corinne Jones Resource Center is located at 913 S. I St. in Pensacola.
Fricker Resource Center is located at 900 N. F St. in Pensacola.
