Water Projects Update

The city’s Clearwell Bypass Project was completed at the end of September and after extensive testing it is now in use. The city’s treated water storage system (clearwell) reached the end of its useful life and will be replaced with two new 4-million-gallon prestressed concrete tanks. The temporary bypass system was needed in order to take the clearwell offline for replacement. The bypass system consists of bypass pipelines, a pump station, a pressure regulating station and two temporary bypass tanks, each with a storage capacity of 1.4 million gallons.  »  The clearwell replacement project is expected to start in the summer of 2023.

Spotlight: Street Maintenance

Whether it’s scheduled maintenance or an emergency repair, Poway’s small but mighty crew of Public Works Street Maintenance workers get the job done.  » They wear orange shirts instead of capes, but are superheroes nonetheless, saving the day when an emergency arises on Poway’s city-maintained roads or right-of-ways.

Christmas in the Park Expands to Two Nights

One night wasn’t enough for one of Poway’s most cherished events! For the first time ever, the historic Old Poway Park turns back the clock both Friday, Dec. 9 and Saturday, Dec. 10 for caroling, live music, horse-drawn hayrides, and night-time rides around the park on the Poway Midland Railroad.  » The annual tree-lighting ceremony and Santa’s arrival by train are only on Friday, but opportunities to visit with Santa continue on Saturday

Take in a new view with an urban hike around the heart of Poway starting near Old Poway Park. Extend your two-mile hike by taking a refuel detour at the center near Espola/Twin Peaks, or by taking an extra lap around Old Poway Park. Relax and unwind when you’re done – whether it’s under a shady tree near the park’s railroad tracks or sipping coffee, beer or wine at one of the Old Poway Village shops.   » Want to explore a little more? 2023: Save the Date for These Popular Events

Holiday Fire Safety
As you deck the halls this season, be fire smart. * Only use decorations that are flame-retardant or not flammable. * Check holiday lights each year for frayed wires or excessive wear. * Don’t link more than three strands of holiday lights. * Never leave a burning candle unattended. Consider using battery-operated flameless candles. * Keep your live Christmas tree away from heat sources and room exits. * Water your live Christmas tree daily to keep it from becoming dry. (Information from FEMA: Holiday Fire Safety).
