The City of Prior Lake will say goodbye to Cathy Erickson, Finance Director, who is retiring at the end of August. Erickson has held a variety of positions with the City’s Finance Department since she was hired in 2013. She was promoted to the Finance Director position in 2017.
Highway 13 Trail Construction
Construction on a trail that will run from County Road 42 to Oakland Beach (Segment 1) is underway! This week, workers started erosion control installation, top-soil stripping and grading. A portion of the project is funded with a federal grant thanks to Rep. Angie Craig, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, and Sen. Tina Smith. The larger trail connection beyond Segment 1 will fill critical gaps in the local and regional trail system. We hope to have it completed before the snow flies.

Investing in Prior Lake Parks and Community
Prior Lake is a City deeply connected to the outdoors and offers a high-quality of life for our residents. To ensure our parks and trails can continue to serve residents for years to come, the City has proposed a $60 million investment plan focused on repairing aging infrastructure, enhancing amenities, and improving trail connectivity. Shaped with community input, the plan aims to meet the recreational needs of residents. The City Council will put the plan to a public vote on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025. Learn more about the proposal at PlayExploreConnectPL.org.
