The City of Roanoke is excited to introduce Ray McDonald, our new Director of Parks and Recreation. Ray will begin his new role with the City of Roanoke on February 1, 2023.

Ray comes to the City of Roanoke with a wealth of knowledge and experience. He worked with the City of Euless in numerous Parks and Recreation roles, spanning from part time maintenance to director, where he was responsible for more than 300 acres of park land and award winning special events. The City of Roanoke will greatly benefit from his years of leadership and diverse skillset. Under Ray’s vision and leadership, Euless’ parks and recreation was able to undergo the renovation and expansion of the prestigious Parks at Texas Star. Other notable career accomplishments include The Euless Family Life Center renovation, additions to the South Euless Park, Villages of Bear Creek, and J.A. Carr Park. Ray was able to oversee the expansion of the City of Euless trail network, allowing for seamless connectivity through the City.
In addition to more than 34 years of parks and recreation experience, Ray has an impressive education and list of certifications including a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas and several emergency management certifications.
