SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled and duties in the construction, installation, maintenance, renewal and repair of City Water Resource utilities.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISITICS: This is the first level of a three tier job group. It is distinguished from the next higher level by the absence of the ability to perform skilled and advanced water resource maintenance duties. This position reports to the Water Resource Field Supervisor. Follows direction from Lead Water Resource Operators and Water Resource II Operators when assigned as a helper specific to the task at hand.

-Performs a variety of semi-skilled, manual duties in the maintenance, repair and construction of City properties, including water, wastewater and reclaimed water structures and systems while assigned to one or more divisions.
-Assists in the cleaning, maintenance and repair of water, wastewater and reclaimed water systems.
-Assists in the removal of old pipe and the laying of new pipelines, mains, services and hydrants. Assists in the installation of water meters and repair.
-Digs and fills trenches manually or using light equipment. Learns to operate medium vehicles and equipment under supervision.
-Transports structures and equipment within the water, wastewater and reclaimed water systems as assigned.
-Completes daily electronic workorders and activities logs when assigned.
-Responds to emergency and off hour situations as required.
-Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience, Certifications and Licenses:
-Hi High School diploma or equivalent GED certificate.
-One (1) year work experience in the general construction or maintenance field; or
-An equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills.
-Ability to obtainment a Valid State of Arizona Driver’s License (Class B) with Tanker endorsement within twelve (12) months of hire. (Required to retain employment.)
