Street Department Supervisor Ronnie Kolacek and Shaun Teel are working to repair the damaged parking lot at the Portwood Pavilion. The team also repaired city roads at various locations including South Washington.

Teddy Sanchez, City Hall Maintenance and Custodial Engineer completed the painting of the old HS Cafeteria this week. The city has gained access to $102,000.00 grant from Texas Work force and an additional EDA grant of $82,000.00 to launch a mobile office workspace. Once completed the shared workspace will be equipped with cubicles, desk space, computers, a web camera, printer/scanner/copiers and more for those who need office space.

Salt Fork Employees Todd Hrncirik, Shawn Sanchez, and Sean Weiser dug a channel through the tank dam so that they could replace the old water line with a new water line that extended deeper and further into the pond. This modification will provide more reliable access to the water and a greater abundance. This will allow the golf course to receive more adequate water supply.

Department Reports

The Street Department as reported by Supervisor Ronnie Kolacek continues to make a difference improving the quality of our community. Mr. Kolacek and his team repaired a damaged parking lot at the Portwood Pavilion and repaired the street on South Washington. The SD also took time to clean up multiple curbs and gutters on various streets in town.

City of Seymour Police Officer Bryce Sawyer reported the department assisted the Baylor County Sheriff’s Office with disturbance calls on several occassions. The department assisted with numerous motorist issues due to the high volume of traffic through town. The police responded to two disturbances, two aggravated assault arrest, one vehicle crash, and assisted a stranded family out of Wichita Falls.

The Water Department supervisor Chase Hoyt and company fixed multiple leaks around town due to the extremely cold weather. The Water Department responded to many turn offs for service due to burst water pipes at residences around town, replaced multiple water cans (the metal can that provides protection of the water meters.) The meter cans rust out and must be replaced. The Water Department welcomed new team member Dakota Berkley and filled in numerous holes created by the repairing of water leaks.

The City of Seymour Electric Department under the supervision of Anthony Arjes concluded an industrious week. The department completed the install of the lights at the Salt Fork Barn, changed outlets at the city’s dog pound, and fixed three streetlights. Next, the Street Department changed the oil on one of the units, planned, and ordered supplies for the department. Mr. Arjes and his team winterized their truck fleet, provided in-house training for troubleshooting power outages, and assisted the Water Department with a water leak on East Mclain over the Christmas weekend.

Trees were trimmed out of a service line at a residence on the 700 block of North Arkansas, read meters, checked service for a business on the 700 block of North Washington, and checked a meter for a residence on North Foley.

Over the course of the last week, the Reverse Osmosis Plant under the supervision of John Davis produced 4.9 million gallons of treated water that was distributed to the City of Seymour and Baylor County Special Utility District. During the week the plant operator monitored the chlorine levels at points throughout the distribution system, monitored the amount of wastewater discharged from the plant, changed the pre-filters in one of the primary RO units, collected the monthly labs that test for microbial contaminants in our wells and distribution system, and calibrated the product water instrument panel.

The Salt Fork Golf Course under the supervision of Todd Hrncirik maintained the golf course throughout the week. The Salt Fork team planned and then excavated a channel through the tank dam to replace an old waterline that feeds the water supply to the gold course. The team are now in the process of preparing and laying the new line. Once completed the soil will be replaced and packed.
