Sugar Land, TX – The City of Sugar Land Civic Arts Division is excited to announce the most recent installation of traffic box art. The initiative, launched in 2018, transforms these functional utility structures into vibrant outdoor art galleries. This latest call, open to artists that teach within Fort Bend ISD and other local school districts, sought to highlight the creativity of local artists while honoring the richness and natural beauty of Sugar Land.
The theme of this round, purposefully broad to allow for artist interpretation and imagination, is “Community”, with designs including people (adults, children), places (landmarks), plants (nature, wildlife), and bright, vivid palettes.
“Traffic box art is a small, yet impactful, way to enhance the visual and sensory qualities of neighborhoods,” said Ebony McFarland, Sugar Land Civic Arts Coordinator. “With their distinct and unique approach, each artist has added vibrancy and character to the City’s landscape.”
