Kate Borders, President and CEO of the Downtown Tempe Authority (DTA,) will leave the organization in May to become President of University Circle Inc. in Cleveland Ohio.

Downtown Tempe Authority is the private, non-profit organization that works in partnership with the City of Tempe to provide enhanced management, safety, marketing and promotional services on behalf of DTA members and other downtown stakeholders.

Borders has led DTA for nine years, seeing significant new growth in Tempe during her tenure. Under her leadership, the organization created many new events and brought in new traditions celebrating Tempe's diverse community, such as PRIDE Month flags and rainbow rose giveaways throughout the downtown, Juneteenth and Menorah lighting events, and more. With her direction, DTA has increased street market opportunities and added substantial public art throughout the downtown area.

“Kate Borders has been instrumental in creating positive change throughout downtown Tempe, bringing new traditions, inclusive events and colorful art to our community. We wish her great success in her new endeavors," said Tempe City Manager Andrew Ching.

Lori Foster, Chief Strategy Officer for Downtown Tempe Authority, will be interim CEO and President beginning in June. Foster has been with downtown Tempe since 2014.
