Toddlers, Trails and Tales
Free every Wed. at 10 a.m.
Parents, grandparents, guardians, come out to the Center with your toddler for story time, crafts, activities and some fresh air. Led by retired PCS kindergarten teacher, Carolyn Otto, the morning will be full of fun adventures. Dress for the weather. Registration is recommended by calling 860-928-4948.

See the charismatic and very quirky American Woodcock performing its courtship dance and display flight. No bright clothing or hats; drab colors only. Northern Harrier, Bald Eagle, and Short-eared Owl are also often observed. Fee: $10 CAS members; $20 non-members.
Nature Sketchbook Journaling
Sat., March 25, 1-3 p.m.
Roxanne Steed teaches the "10-minute-sketch-walk". We'll be outside for short walks with sketchbooks, and then back inside to finish our pages with paint and details. We'll discuss ways to make the images into larger nature paintings with loose brushwork. Bring a watercolor sketchbook, permanent markers, portable watercolor kit, small cup, and paper towels. Volunteer Naturalist Training
Every Tues., Mar. 28 to May 30
8 a.m. to noon
Have you always wanted to learn more about the natural world? Want to volunteer at the Center? With 40 hours of training (ten four-hour sessions), this may be the program for you. Topics include wildlife of northeastern Connecticut, spring wildflowers, tree identification, and even basic survival skills. Space is limited. For course syllabus, click here. Folk Music Concert

Minnesota folk singer, Peter Mayer, returns to the Quiet Corner. A guitar virtuoso, Peter (www.petermayer.net) has been singing and songwriting for over 20 years, performing in venues across the U.S. and beyond. He has eleven albums to his credit. Frog and Toad Calls
March 31, 6:30 p.m.
Frogs and toads can be heard from February through October. Learn to identify who is calling in your back yard! Follow up with an evening walk around the Trail Wood sanctuary pond, to see if we can hear and identify them. With any luck, we will hear Spring Peepers and Wood Frogs.
