On December 1st, is the official release of the 2022 Connecticut State of the Birds Report.

This year's report is titled "125 Years of Bird Conservation Through Local Action." We planned it to help mark the 125th anniversary of Connecticut Audubon's founding, in 1898.

The 125th anniversary is significant because Connecticut Audubon was founded by Mabel Osgood Wright, a visionary leader who helped start the modern bird conservation movement.

That led directly to the protection of songbirds, hawks and owls, shorebirds, waterfowl, and gamebirds that continues to this day.

I'd like to invite you to join us for the report's official release.

It's scheduled for 11 a.m. til noon — Thursday, December 1, via Zoom.

The authors of each of the reports 5 articles will be on hand to discuss their work and answer questions. They'll be joined by key staff of the Connecticut Audubon Society.

It's free, of course.

Each year, the report examines an aspect of bird life or conservation in Connecticut. The authors are the best and the brightest, in the state, the region and the country.

We hope the report influences the conservation agenda at all levels in the state.
