4:00 PM-6:00 PM: Ariel Quartet: Celebrating Mothers at Christ Episcopal Church

Distinguished by its virtuosity, probing musical insight, and impassioned, fiery performances, the Ariel Quartet has garnered critical praise worldwide for more than twenty years. The Quartet serves as the Faculty Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music, where they direct the chamber music program and present a concert series in addition to maintaining a busy touring schedule in the United States and abroad.

On this Mother's Day, Ariel Quartet will present a program of works by Maurice Ravel and Robert Schumann. Schumann's String Quartet, op. 41, No. 3 features what has come to be known as the "Clara motif," named for his wife and the mother of their eight children. Free traditional French madeleine cookies from Donsuemor will be available to all!

7:00 PM-9:00 PM: Miró Quartet: Voices of Home at The Farmers' Museum

The Miró Quartet is one of America's most celebrated and dedicated string quartets, having been labeled by The New Yorker as "furiously committed" and noted by the Cleveland Plain Dealer for its "exceptional tonal focus and interpretive intensity." This celebrated string quartet opens CSMF's 26th season with works by Kevin Puts, George Walker, and Franz Joseph Haydn.

7:00 PM-9:00 PM: Pianist Richard Goode Plays Beethoven at The Otesaga Resort Hotel

Richard Goode has been hailed for music-making of tremendous emotional power, depth and expressiveness, and has been acknowledged worldwide as one of today's leading interpreters of Classical and Romantic music. In this performance, Goode performs Beethoven's timeless and transcendent final three sonatas.

7:00 PM-9:00 PM: Catherine Russell, Blues and Jazz Singer at The Otesaga Resort Hotel

With universal acclaim, Catherine Russell has performed on four continents. She's been a hit at major Jazz Festivals including Monterey, Newport, North Sea, JazzAscona, Montreal, Bern, Rochester International, Panama, Tanglewood, and at sold out venues like The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Scullers in Boston, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall in NYC. All Music Guide says, "Russell emerged as a retro old school vocalist for the ages." In this program, the Grammy Award-winner and her trio perform jazz standards and little-known gems from the 1920s.

10:30 AM-11:30 AM: Part I: Family Music Fest with Justin Jay Hines, Percussionist & Teaching Artist at Origins Cafe

Percussionist, composer, and educator Justin Jay Hines has performed with the New York Philharmonic, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, Moab Music Festival, Alarm Will Sound, and the Chamber Music Society of Detroit. He has served as a Lead NY Philharmonic Teaching Artist in New York City and Japan since 1997, and in November will make his fourth appearance hosting the New York Philharmonic's Young People's Concert Dance Like a Firebird.

Justin presents two unique, family-friendly workshops and performances at Origins Cafe and The Farmers' Museum. Each event is free and registration is required.

Act I:

In partnership with Origins Cafe, Justin will lead a percussion workshop and concert experience beginning at 10:30am. Participants will first be guided in making percussion instruments from natural materials. Then workshop participants will learn the funky hip-hop rhythms and beats played on the bucket. This workshop culminates in a full group piece for buckets and homemade instruments. All materials, including buckets and sticks will be provided. Appropriate for ages 7 and up.

3:00 PM-5:00 PM: PART II: Family Music Fest with Justin Jay Hines, Percussionist & Teaching Artist at Origins Cafe

Act II:

Beginning at 3pm, Justin will perform his signature percussion workshop Rhythm ‘Round the World at The Farmers' Museum. This interactive workshop showcases the rich global history of percussion, featuring stories, solos, and demonstrations on a wide variety of instruments. Cross-curriculum connections relate to Geography, History, and the Physics of sound, while primary musical concepts focus on rhythm, patterns, and timbre. In a new version created specifically for the Cooperstown Chamber Music Festival, Rhythm ‘Round the World audience members will help create the percussion soundtrack for Native American Storytelling. The concert is also preceded by an instrument making table. Bring your metal, plastic, and cardboard recyclable items! Appropriate for ages 7 and up.

7:00 PM-9:00 PM: Bach Again at Christ Episcopal Church

Linda Chesis (flute), Rachell Ellen Wong (violin), Glimmerglass Festival Young Artist Winona Martin (mezzo-soprano), Michael Katz (cello), and Bradley Brookshire (harpsichord) join forces for an evening of instrumental masterworks by JS Bach.
