Crestavilla Hosts Marketplace Celebrating Creativity and Community

Arts and Entertainment

June 24, 2025

Crestavilla, a Kisco Signature Community, is hosting its annual summer marketplace on Thursday, June 26 at 4 p.m., featuring handcrafted items made by members and other local vendors, with proceeds benefiting Homes for HOPE. The event is open to the public.

Crestavilla is proud to highlight Felicia Noriega, who is contributing handcrafted necklaces, and Ivette Puente, heirloom life enrichment specialist at Crestavilla, who is guiding memory care members in making pet treats, key chains, and heartfelt cards.

Noriega, an 86-year-old member at Crestavilla, has loved making jewelry since childhood, a passion she inherited from her family. She became a licensed jeweler and now runs a jewelry-making program with her granddaughter. Since it started, they have raised more than $10,000 for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Every Saturday, she teaches a jewelry-making class at Crestavilla.

“Making jewelry isn’t easy," said Noriega. "It takes real skill and creativity. You need a clear idea and a plan for what you want to create. I love teaching other members and inspiring them to design their own pieces.”

Ivette Puente is helping around 15 memory care members create homemade items, including dog and cat treats, hand-stitched keychains and crafted cards. She enjoys collaborating with each member, finding ways for them to get involved and contribute in their own way.

“Members are excited to contribute to this year’s marketplace," said Puente. "They feel empowered like they’re making a real difference. It gives them a sense of purpose and connection, like they are part of something bigger than themselves.”

“Ivette is great at creating meaningful experiences for our memory care members,” said Francis Cruz, life enrichment director at Crestavilla. “She offers them choices, helping them feel heard and allowing them to do what they enjoy- making them more eager to participate.”
