From: Artisans at the Dahmen BarnJoin Artisans at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown, Washington for “A Culinary Tour of the Palouse.” We are thrilled to unveil this incredible program, supported by a destination development grant from State of Washington Tourism. From April to September, regional chefs will showcase their expertise and culinary talents. Students will have the opportunity for hands-on learning from premier chefs, with all classes emphasizing locally sourced ingredients. After preparing their dishes, students can sit down and savor their creations with local wines, beers, or coffee.
The first cooking class on the culinary tour will take place April 20th 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will feature Chefs Craig and Jessica Mariner from Storybook Baking Company in “Artisan Bread with Shepherds Grain Flour.” Artisan breads are a delightful way to elevate your baking game. In this class, students will learn all the steps to create crusty and flavorful sourdoughs at home.
The second cooking class on the culinary tour will take place on April 27th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. “Baking the Palouse: Baking with Unexpected Grains & Legumes” is the title of the class with Chef Jessica Murray, WSU School of Hospitality Business Management, providing instruction. Jessica Murray creates unique baked goods using unexpected grains and legumes, such as garbanzo beans and lentils harvested from the Palouse. With these ingredients, she crafts decadent desserts like baklava, incorporating both garbanzo beans and lentils, and a rich molten lava cake featuring lentils.
