D1 Training, a leading fitness concept utilizing the five core tenets of athletic-based training, opened a new location on October 21 in Wichita at 12938 E 21st N. The group fitness facility employs a sports-science backed training regimen led by certified trainers to help people of all ages achieve their sport and fitness goals.
A family-owned business, the first D1 Training in Kansas is owned by siblings Paul, Brian and David Suellentrop and Jennifer Lines, a local group behind the Sandlot Garage Condos and other commercial developments. When looking into their next business venture, they sought something that aligned with their values. They were immediately drawn to D1 Training’s emphasis on community impact, providing a place where athletes of all ages can feel comfortable and work towards their fitness and athletic goals. D1 Training defines an athlete as anyone with a fitness goal, so anyone, regardless of age or fitness level, can find a home at D1 Training. Paul, Brian, David and Jennifer have already been attending local events to promote youth sports and athletics, most recently at the FLEXWORK football camp featuring 2023 and 2024 Super Bowl champion Isiah Pacheco.
This location marks the first of two D1 Training facilities that the siblings will open in Wichita. The second location is currently being built at The Shops at Avante, situated at the northwest corner of 37th and Ridge Rd. Members will have access to both facilities to help them achieve their fitness goals.
“Our family is deeply rooted in Wichita and the surrounding area, as far back as when our great-great grandfather founded the State Bank of Colwich community bank, now Legacy Bank,” said Paul. “As a family, we want to continue his legacy by bringing new businesses to our home community that helps Wichita thrive and its members to enjoy. We are confident that D1 Training will achieve that.”
D1 Training offers four age-based programs including Rookie (ages 7-11), Developmental (ages 12-14), Prep (ages 15-18) and D1 Adult. Each fitness program is based on the five athletic-based tenets: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength program, core and conditioning, and cool down. Outside of group workouts, D1 Training offers one-on-one training with world-class coaches. The goal is simple: to continue to train athletes who are dedicated to their sport or their fitness goals, regardless of age or athletic background.
“Paul, Brian, David and Jennifer are the ideal candidates to bring the D1 Training experience to Wichita,” said the brand’s Chief Operating Officer, Dan Murphy. “We’re thrilled to welcome them to the D1 family and are confident in their ability to show the Wichita area what they’ve been missing out on. D1 is a one-of-a-kind fitness experience that’s built around the individual and meant to help people meet their athletic goals. Our strong network of franchisees embodies our core values to bring the D1 Training vision to life, and we know they will do just that in Wichita and its surrounding communities.”
Strategically expanding across the nation through franchising, D1 Training has more than 100 performance centers open with over 100 additional locations in various stages of development. The brand is currently seeking qualified and active community members to expand its footprint and help more people meet their fitness goals.
