Delray Beach Fire Chief Keith Tomey has been elected to serve as president of the Palm Beach County Fire Chief’s Association, taking the helm of an organization designed to unite the leadership in the area’s fire service to share resources, information, and support. The chief was sworn in at a December meeting of the association and will serve a two-year term.
“I am honored to help lead this association, bringing together Palm Beach County’s fire rescue leaders to keep our communities as safe as they can be,” Chief Tomey said. “I am excited to get to work.”
Chief Tomey spent 30 years in the fire service in the city of Miramar, rising through the ranks and retiring as fire chief there before he was hired in 2016 by the city of Delray Beach as an assistant chief. He was promoted to Delray Beach fire chief in March 2020.
“The Palm Beach County Fire Chiefs' Association could not have chosen a more dedicated leader than Chief Tomey, and with his many years of public service, I know he will represent the City of Delray Beach and Palm Beach County well,” Mayor Shelly Petrolia said.
