From: Delray Beach Public LibraryDear Patrons,
The Grand Marshalls of this year’s Delray Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade are WWII veterans. These vets will lead the veteran section which leads the whole parade. Veterans & Homefront Voices is looking to recruit volunteers with golf carts to help drive the Vets for the parade.
There are lots of WWII and Korea ear vets willing and able to join the parade. Walking two miles in the parade is beyond our oldest vets. They are recruiting golf carts and drivers to convoy the vets. The drivers and other volunteers and the vets will do some decorating of the cart together and then ride down Atlantic Ave so the 40,000+ spectators can cheer the vets.
The parade will be Saturday, March 11th on Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach, and golf carts need to be at the Holly House on the First Presbyterian church campus (33 Gleason Street) by 9:45am. The veterans will complete the parade at around 1:00pm. There will be a picnic for all vets, their families, and volunteers at the Pompey Park, 1101 NW 2nd Street.
