Good Afternoon,

March is Women’s History Month; we use this time to celebrate the contribution women have made throughout history through present day.

What better place to celebrate women than at the library? Where you can find an abundance of information on their contributions.

From scientists to chefs to authors, adventurers, and conservationists, you can learn all about their lives, hard work, determination and commitment.

I take this time to reflect on the women who have influenced me. 

My Grandmother, Anna, was a nurse and one of the most caring, compassionate, and strong-willed women I have ever known. A working mom in the 1950s & 60s was an amazing example those who knew her. My daughter is named for her. 

My mom, Lisa taught me to be a strong, independent, thoughtful person. 

My sister-in-law, Grace is always there to lend an ear when I need it.

And I can’t go on without mentioning my mentor and colleague, Loanis. I would not be where I am today without her guidance and support. 

It really does take a village. Let’s keep reading, learning, growing, and supporting each other.

We are truly grateful for the generous PNC Foundation grant which afforded us the pleasure to purchase, package and present bins filled with early learner books and educational toys to 16 deserving Delray Beach Daycare providers in the NW and SW neighborhoods this month! Ms. Cindy Pilloni, a VP of PNC Bank, partnered with our stellar Library Assistants Ms. Marie and Ms. Lovely, and our indispensable Director of Development and Community Relations, Ms. Kae for a visit to Brave Little Stars Preschool Center in Delray Beach on March 9th.  At Brave Little Stars, Ms. Marie and Ms. Lovely led an interactive story time program and Ms. Pilloni participated by reading a book aloud to the students. Thank you to PNC Bank for continuing to invest in our community’s early learners to ensure their learning spaces are replenished with new books and educational toys to enrich their learning! 

Story Chasers Book Club

Monday, March 20th

Ages: 1st - 3rd Grade

Registered book club members stop by to pick up a free copy of an assigned fantasy/adventure story along with a special theme craft challenge.

They meet on the 3rd Monday of the month to discuss what they’ve read, to share a show-and-tell theme craft, and to play a fun pop-up quiz game!  This month we are reading Lunch Lady by Jarrett Kroscoczka and creating cool spy gadgets from recycled materials!
