Pssst . . . Do you know about Library on the Go? Well, it’s no secret! Each month, Children’s Librarian Ms. Tea drives the Library On the Go golf cart to a different Delray location for an engaging, age-specific, pop-up library program featuring different themes with curated Children’s books to peruse and enjoy. Last Wednesday, our Library on the Go program partnered with our friends from KOP Mentoring, Inc. to host a “Spring Break Playdate” at Merritt Park for ages 7 - 11. We began with a read aloud of Faith Pray’s book, Perfectly Imperfect Mira with a message to try new activities and apply persistence and resiliency even if the activity isn’t executed perfectly. Then we competed and laughed during a big group game of “Free the Froggies!” (played similarly to the classic “Steal the Bacon” game). Afterward, the children broke up into smaller groups to enjoy the ninja warrior-inspired play area along with an assortment soccer balls, basketballs, kites, hula hoops, jump ropes, cornhole and a parachute for small group play. All children were invited to choose a free sports/recreation themed book to keep and we ended with an appreciation circle during which several smiling faces shared what they enjoyed most about the program. A good time was had by all! Check our website and RSVP for next month’s age-specific “Library on the Go” coming to a location near You!
