From: Delray Beach Public LibraryGreetings, library lovers and fellow space enthusiasts!
October has arrived, and we're over the moon to announce that it's Space Science Month at the Delray Beach Public Library!
Space has always captivated human imagination, and our fascination with the cosmos dates back centuries. From Galileo's first telescope observations to the modern space age, humanity's quest to explore the universe has been a journey of wonder and discovery.
Celebrate World Space Week!
World Space Week commemorates the launch of the first human-made Earth satellite, Sputnik 1, on October 4, 1957, and the signing of the Outer Space Treaty on October 10, 1967. This annual event brings together people from around the world to celebrate the contributions of space science and technology to humanity.
As we celebrate the grandeur of our universe, we invite you to be a part of these two exciting specialty programs:
The Cox Science Center and Aquarium is bringing their Dome Planetarium to our library on Saturday, October 7 @ 1-4 PM for ages 5-17. Prepare for an unforgettable voyage through the cosmos, dive into the marvels of space, traverse distant galaxies, marvel at sparkling stars, and witness breathtaking celestial phenomena. STEM activity stations will keep you busy after your space travels. Mark your calendars, because on October 7th, you won't want to miss this chance to experience the wonders of the night sky!
Then on Saturday, October 14 @ 12-3:30 PM, we will witness a Partial Annular Solar Eclipse during an Epic Eclipse Viewing Party for all ages in our parking lot! This event offers a rare opportunity to witness the moon partially blocking the sun, creating a celestial spectacle. Join us for an afternoon filled with fun activities, music, snacks, ice cream, and, most importantly, a safe view of the eclipse with free eclipse glasses provided, while supplies last. Our library received 1000 free solar eclipse viewing glasses from the Space Science Institute through its Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries. Bring your friends and family and enjoy this extraordinary event where science and wonder collide under the open sky!
Register HERE for these programs and keep looking up!
With stardust wishes, stay safe and happy,

World Singing Day is a global event held annually on the 3rd Saturday in October. As a catalyst for positive human connection, this one day each year serves as an opportunity to celebrate our global family through the universal language of music.
Not karaoke and not a competition, just a feel-good time singing along together to some great old songs from the 50s, 60s, and 70s -- like Doris Day, Nancy Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, and of course, Neil Diamond. Do you remember Tony Orlando & Dawn?
Lyrics provided. Refreshments will be served.
