Douglas County seeking traditional and non-traditional applicants for two vacancies

Do you have a bit of time to give to your community and experience or interest in 4-H and youth development and leadership? Do you have a green thumb or interest in agriculture, natural resources, horticulture, or gardening? Or are you passionate about your family’s health and wellness? We need your perspective.

The Douglas County CSU Extension Advisory Council has one at-large (countywide) and one District I (Parker, Lone Tree) vacancy to fill.

The mission of the advisory council is to “provide information and education and to encourage the application of research-based knowledge, in response to local, state, and national issues affecting individuals, youth, families, agricultural enterprises and communities of Colorado.” Council members counsel, advise and deliberate with CSU Extension staff regarding program efforts.

The Council is interested in hearing from candidates beyond those historically represented – ranchers, farmers, homemakers and 4-H leaders – and encourages applicants with outside interests that may bring a balance of thinking and ‘stretch’ program considerations beyond the traditional.

The successful applicant must be able to meet quarterly on the third Thursday of January, April, July and October. Council members are appointed by the Board of Douglas County Commissioners to a three-year term with a limit of two terms.
