On June 24, 2025, Democratic Party of Georgia Chair Charlie Bailey released the following statement on the third anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, ending nearly 50 years of legal protection for abortion access, and allowing Georgia Republicans to enact a near total abortion ban that has resulted in the death of multiple women:

“Three years ago today, the Supreme Court handed down a devastating decision that led us to where we are today: living under one of the strictest abortion bans in the country and facing near constant attempts to further undermine reproductive freedom and health care access.

“Three years later, women have been denied the care they need, have been forced to leave the state in search of the care they need, and have even died as a result of not being able to access the care they need.

“Despite all of this tragedy and devastation, fat cat politicians running for Senate and for Governor are hell bent on standing by this dangerous abortion ban and further restricting the rights of Georgians.

“It’s not just wrong, it’s shameful. Republicans like Buddy Carter, John King, and Mike Collins have no place in the United States Senate, and Chris Carr and Burt Jones have no place in the governor’s mansion. Their anti-abortion agenda is too extreme, too dangerous, and too out of step with Georgians. We look forward to holding them accountable for their extremism.”
