Keep Warm in the Winter Months
In the cold winter months, the right choice to keep warm during dance class is the wrap sweater that can be added to your class's required attire. Loose-fitting clothing is a distraction in dance class, so the wrap sweater is designed to be closely fitted and easily removed if the dancer gets too warm. The wrap is available in pink and black in child's XS-L and can be purchased at the Mill Ballet School Studio.
Other tips for keeping warm are:
- Give your body a proper warm-up before class begins. Moving your body will raise your core temperature.
- Wear extra layers before class begins.
- Keep your feet warm with dance booties or simply massaging your feet to stimulate blood flow.
- Keep hydrated and consider warm beverages such as tea.
- Cool down after class to return your body to normal temperature.
- Remember to wear warm clothes in the cool air when you leave the building.
Roxey Ballet's Carmen
Immerse yourself in the spellbinding world of Roxey Ballet Company’s one-act ballet, Carmen. Choreographed by founder and visionary Mark Roxey, this contemporary masterpiece full of passion and betrayal tells the sensual tale of the fabled temptress of Seville.
Based on Prosper Merimee’s novel, Carmen traces the dramatic downward spiral of its titular character and the tumultuous journey of Don José, as he is torn between the love of his wife, Michaela, and the irresistible allure of Carmen. As Carmen navigates her own romantic entanglements with admirers like the Toreador Escamillo, Captain Zuniga, and the soldier-smuggler Morales, the ballet weaves a vibrant tapestry of treachery, lust, and betrayal.
This sizzling dance production invites the audience to witness the twists of romance and the tragic consequences that unfold in this story. Adding to the allure, the performance features a guest appearance by world-class flamenco dancer Lisa Botalico who embodies the role of the Fortune Teller. Don’t miss the chance to experience the passion and drama of Carmen, brought to life through the artistry of Roxey Ballet Company.
Carmen will be performed at Mill Ballet on February 24-25 and March 1-3.
