We hope to see you there!

Welcome to Pamela Hetherington

Mill Ballet School Trainees participated in a tap Master Class this past weekend with Pamela Hetherington, and we are thrilled to share that Pamela will be joining the Mill Ballet School faculty this summer and fall!

Pamela brings her passion for tap, many years of experience, and warm teaching style to our school family and we are excited for everyone to meet her. She is an internationally recognized leader in the fields of tap dance and jazz music, with a focus on telling ‘jazz stories’ that fuse tap dance, original music, text, transformative grooves and historical contexts, all while providing accessible and inclusive environments for the work. Welcome, Pamela!

NJ Teen Arts Festival

Mark and Melissa Roxey and Roxey Ballet company artists Pinja Sinisalo and Jace Coronado will participate in the NJ Teen Arts Festival on April 17 for Hunterdon County and May 16 for Somerset County.

The New Jersey State Teen Arts Festival is the statewide culminating celebration of the arts dedicated to inspiring New Jersey teen artists, educators, professional artists, and arts advocates from across the state to unite as one grand all-inclusive community.

The NJSTAF will be host to a wide variety of activities, focused towards recognizing the accomplishments of the Garden State’s teen artists by showcasing their creative efforts in the literary, performing, and visual arts.  The showcases presented by these accomplished students during this celebration have been nominated by their home counties to appear as exemplary representatives of the outstanding artistic talent blossoming all throughout New Jersey’s local communities.  In addition, to highlighting  the accomplishments of the states talented teen artists, the New Jersey State Teen Arts Festival is also committed to furthering the interests of all who are in attendance by providing Master Class Workshops to help students develop perceptual, intellectual, and technical skills; gain cultural awareness and understanding; and develop personal aesthetic values.

Professional Development for teachers will also be offered, accompanied by a college fair composed of higher education institutions dedicated to developing professionals with passions to pursue careers surrounding the arts.

During NJSTAF, students who have been invited can receive valuable feedback about their art in group and individual critiques, both written and verbal, and often “sit-in” on the critiques of other emerging artists in their discipline, increasing their educational experience. Professional artists at the festival provide in-depth critical reviews and analysis of student work, performances and group presentations, a process that all students report to be most beneficial to their growth as artists.

Tutus & Tiaras

In the “Tutus and Tiaras” series, budding dancers are introduced to the world of Roxey Ballet where they will watch as professional artists prepare for their day of rehearsals, learn the foundational steps of classical ballet, and interact with accomplished artists. Children and parents will engage in relaxed conversations with the professionals as they share the essence of being a dancer and gain insights into the art of dance.

“Tutus and Tiaras” will be held on April 6 from 1-2 pm during a “Children’s Classic Stories” rehearsal at Mill Ballet.

Young Children are Invited to Enjoy Roxey Ballet's Children's Classic Stories on April 13

If your child is interested in seeing Roxey Ballet's "Children's Classic Stories" but is not quite ready to sit still in the theater, consider bringing them to our sensory-friendly production on April 13 at Mill Ballet. At the sensory-friendly performance, audiences are free to move around, sit on the floor if they choose, and enter and exit as needed. This takes the worry off the parents and gives the children the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful show in a relaxed and familiar environment.

The sensory-friendly performance of “Children’s Classic Stories” was created for children and adults with ASD, special needs, or sensory sensitivities and will be presented with adaptations including decreased sound levels, elimination of special effects, and increased house lighting. There will be an ASL interpreter present to welcome deaf and hard-of-hearing patrons. For more information visit roxeyballet.org.

Roxey Ballet Presents Children's Classic Stories

Roxey Ballet's annual "Children's Classic Stories" series features two classic tales this spring: Carnival of the Animals and Sleeping Beauty Act III-Aurora's Wedding.

Sleeping Beauty Act III- Aurora’s Wedding features the extraordinary pas de deux of Princess Aurora and Prince Desire and includes Jewel Fairy Variations, Blue Bird, Puss in Boots, and Little Red Riding Hood pas de deux. As Princess Aurora and her family are awakened from their deep sleep, the princess accepts Prince Florimund’s proposal for marriage and her family approves. A joyful wedding at the castle celebrates their marriage and is attended by their families and magical fairies. Masterful choreography by Mark Roxey and exquisite costumes by Alicia Warden and Nilda Roxey bring this classic fairytale to life.

Carnival of the Animals tells the story of a child lost at a zoo who encounters various dynamic animals as he finds his way home. Choreographed by Mark Roxey, the ballet includes 57 colorful costumes and masks designed by Alicia Worden, Ana Vichnevetsky, and Nilda Roxey. As the dancers interpret lions, fish, donkeys, elephants, chickens, tortoises, birds, and kangaroos, audience members enjoy various styles of dance paired with surprising instrumentation.

“Children’s Classic Stories” will be performed on April 20 and 21 at 2 pm at Villa Victoria Theatre, 376 W Upper Ferry Rd, Ewing, NJ. There will be a sensory-friendly performance on April 13 at 3 pm at Mill Ballet in New Hope, PA. In-person and virtual tickets are available.
