From: City of EncinitasCelebrate the Season at the Holiday Parade, Heritage Tree Lighting& Get Ready for the 2024 Winter Activity Guide!
The Encinitas Holiday Parade - presented by Ting will take place on Saturday, Dec. 2 on Coast Highway 101. The parade begins at 5:30 p.m. It is preceded by a 5:00 p.m. tree lighting ceremony with a brief appearance by Santa at the Lumberyard Shops courtyard (between H and I Street on the east side of 101).
The Encinitas Holiday Parade Committee 2023 theme is “Traditions of Encinitas." Parade entries will showcase the many current and historical traditions of Encinitas. The Parade Committee is also honored to name Encinitas’ own, Carolyn Cope as the 2023 Parade Grand Marshal. As the President of the Historical Society and lifetime resident of Encinitas, she is the expert in all Encinitas traditions, which includes the annual Heritage Tree Lighting Ceremony taking place the day before on Friday, Dec. 1, 4-6 p.m. The Heritage Tree Lighting event at the upper Moonlight Beach parking lot, will feature live music and holiday carols by the San Diego North Coast Singers and three “EnSINGnitas” children’s school choirs, including El Camino Creek, Parkdale Lane, and Mission Estancia. The event will open with a medley of holiday classics by Free Verse, a local favorite band.
Holiday Parade Free Shuttle Services - Shuttle buses will take Parade spectators to and from the Parade from two convenient shuttle locations: Ecke Sports Park/YMCA and San Dieguito Academy High School (parking lot at corner of Melba Road/Nardo Road). Both shuttles start running at 4pm with last pick-ups from the parade stop at 8:30pm. The ADA accessible buses run from the San Dieguito Academy location. Shuttles run approximately every 20 minutes and will drop you off at the NCTD bus station on Vulcan Avenue, just a half block from the Parade route.
