BOISE, ID -- The Idaho Democratic Party announced on Jan 23rd, that U.S. Congressman Eric Swalwell and Pennsylvania State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta will speak at the Frank and Bethine Church Gala in Boise on Saturday, March 8.

“We are thrilled to welcome Congressman Swalwell and Representative Kenyatta to Idaho,” said Idaho Democratic Party Chair Lauren Necochea. “Both are fearless leaders who embody the vision and resilience it takes to stand up to Donald Trump and his MAGA allies who intend to use the might of the U.S. government further to enrich the ultra-wealthy at the expense of working families. Idaho Democrats know what it means to be the underdogs and still fight for our families, our freedoms, and our futures. Congressman Swalwell and Representative Kenyatta exemplify that unrelenting determination, bringing hope and driving progress when needed most.”

Congressman Eric Swalwell, raised in Iowa and California, was the first in his family to attend college and did so with an athletic scholarship. A former prosecutor specializing in hate crimes, he joined Congress in 2013. Swalwell served on the House Intelligence Committee, leading investigations into Russian interference and Trump’s impeachments. Stripped of his role in 2023 for opposing MAGA extremism, he now serves on Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees. A former presidential candidate, Swalwell lives in California with his wife, Brittany, and their three children.

Pennsylvania State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta made history as the first openly LGBTQ+ person of color elected to the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 2018 and as the 2024 Democratic nominee for Auditor General. A champion for workers’ rights and government accountability, Kenyatta serves on key committees and has spoken at two Democratic National Conventions. His inspiring journey, featured in award-winning documentaries, solidifies his role as a rising Democratic leader. Kenyatta lives in North Philadelphia with his husband, Dr. Matthew Kenyatta, and their dog, Cleo.
