From: Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington“Wish You Were Here” is MoCA Arlington’s resident artist summer exhibition, featuring new artworks by Kate Fleming, Emily Fussner, David Ignacio, Stephanie Lane, Marissa Long, Rebecca Rivas-Rogers, Johab Silva, Marisa Stratton, Olivia Tripp Morrow, Milan Warner, Bahar Yürüko?lu and Lianna Zaragoza.
Borrowing its title from the cliché sentence written on the back of postcards, the works in “Wish You Were Here” are anything but, inviting an expansive interpretation of the sentiment. Johab Silva’s humorous digital paintings and the colorful collages of Bahar Yürüko?lu feature scenes from sunny vacation destinations, while Marisa Stratton, David Ignacio and Emily Fussner depict people, places and things from the past. Kate Fleming and Stephanie Lane playfully examine objects that have undergone physical metamorphoses, while absence is given a physical presence in the installations and drawings of Marissa Long and Rebecca Rivas-Rogers. Meanwhile, Olivia Tripp Morrow, Milan Warner and Lianna Zaragoza all pay homage to nature’s constant cycles of transformation in works of sculpture, painting and installation.
