People of all ages have glowing memories of chasing fireflies on a warm summer night. Welcome summertime with Terhune Orchards’ annual kick-off to summer – our Firefly Festival.

Visitors will be treated to an electrifying afternoon and evening.  Admission to Firefly Festival is free.

Firefly Festival is a fun-filled event for the whole family. Children can dress up as fireflies after decorating wings and making antennas in the craft area. There is a $7 charge for craft activities. Children can have fun in our kids’ play area, on pedal and play tractors and in play houses. Visiting with our farm animals is always fun for everyone. Take a stroll on our farm trail and see what you can discover.

Did you know fireflies are actually beetles? These insects use their bioluminescence as a way to communicate with each other. Look out for their signaling. Fireflies are mostly found along the edges of forests, wooded yard areas, and near streams or ponds. Terhune Orchards goes to great lengths to cultivate habitats for beneficial insects like bees, butterflies, and fireflies on our 250 acres of preserved farmland.

Don’t let hunger bug you. While waiting for nature’s show, have an old-fashioned farm supper at Pam’s Food Tent. The grill will be cooking up everyone’s summer favorites – hot dogs and hamburgers, along with chicken tenders, mac and cheese, gazpacho, and more. Pies, donuts, and other freshly baked treats will be available for dessert, too. The wine orchard will stay open late for wine flights, wine slushies, and wine by the glass.

Barn Door Cafe will be open for a refreshing apple cider slush or nice cold ice cream and dance to the evening away.

Lolly Hopwood will be performing for all our young firefly friends. Bring your wings and dancing shoes. Come sing, dance and play with Lolly! Her interactive & imaginative shows bring the audience into the performance with original songs that get the kids up and moving. Fun props like bubbles, parachutes, scarves, and puppets make Lolly’s events extra memorable for the whole family.

Come and enjoy a flickering, flying, fun evening on the farm. Admission is FREE.
