First Lady Gianforte Secures Partnership for Imagination Library in Yellowstone County

Montana parents sign up for free books at imaginationlibrary.com

BILLINGS, MT - In partnership with United Way of Yellowstone County, First Lady Susan Gianforte today announced that United Way will serve as the local program partner for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in Yellowstone County.

The non-profit program boosts early childhood literacy by providing free high-quality, age-appropriate books to Montana children.

“It is my pleasure to welcome United Way as our local program partner in Yellowstone County,” First Lady Gianforte said. “Their deep knowledge of the community, expertise in early literacy, and commitment to addressing the needs in Yellowstone County make them a valuable partner who will help put more books in the hands of Montana children.”

In June 2023, First Lady Gianforte joined Dolly Parton in announcing the statewide expansion of Imagination Library in Montana. Through the partnership, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library will provide a free book each month to any Montana child, ages 0 to 5 years old, who is registered with the organization. A child may be registered at imaginationlibrary.com.

As a local program partner, United Way of Yellowstone County will help enroll children and conduct marketing and outreach efforts to inform families of the program. United Way of Yellowstone County joins as the 64th local program partner in Montana and the statewide the program currently serves more than 24,000 children.

Boosting literacy to empower more Montana children and promoting and expanding access to STEM education, particularly for girls and students in our rural communities, are the first lady’s chief initiatives.
