From: FIU Liszt FestivalPrepare to be thrilled by one of history's most electrifying composers at the annual FIU Liszt Festival, sponsored by the South Florida Chapter of the American Liszt Society. Franz Liszt, the Hungarian virtuoso, was not just a composer and pianist—he was a revolutionary force in the world of music. His compositions broke boundaries, his performances captivated audiences, and his innovations continue to influence musicians today.
This year's festival, under the direction of FIU Piano Area Coordinator Jose Lopez, features guest virtuoso pianists Kemal Gekic, Lindsay Garritson, and Lopez himself. The program offers a rare opportunity to hear seldom-performed works from Liszt's later years, as well as the FIU premiere of a composition by Orlando Jacinto Garcia, which masterfully quotes from Liszt.
The second half of the concert will showcase the electrifying Spanish Rhapsody, Liszt's iconic 2nd Hungarian Rhapsody, and the stunning Don Juan Fantasy in a two-piano version. This festival is not just a concert—it’s an homage to Liszt's genius. Experience the spirit of Liszt, the power and emotion that defined his work, and the lasting impact he has had on the world of classical music.
