PIERRE, S.D. - On December 31, 2024, Governor Kristi Noem ordered that flags be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol from sunrise until sunset on Saturday, January 4, 2025, in honor of former state legislator Arnold (Arne) M. Brown. Arne Brown represented Brookings County in the State House from 1993 to 1996 and in the State Senate from 1997 to 2004, including as President Pro Tempore of the Senate from 2001 to 2004.

A funeral service for Arne will take place on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 11:00 am at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2030 3^rd St., Brookings, SD 57006.
