Faculty Concert

Andrew Buckley, Clarinet

Transcending Traditions

Friday, April 11, 2025 7pm

MacArthur Recital Hall

Andrew Buckley, clarinet

Transcending Traditions

FSPA clarinet instructor Andrew Buckley celebrates the storied legacy of the clarinet by exploring the repertoire beyond the traditional mainstream with selected works for only clarinet and fixed electronics.

The works are paired with video and multimedia elements in order to bring the listener deeper into the stories the piece tells, contrasting the typical classical concert experience.

Pieces will include Jacob TV’s Garden of Love, Nikola Resanovic’s Alt.Music. Ballistix, and Steve Reich’s monumental work N.Y. Counterpoint, amongst others!

From the book by Roald Dahl

Dramatized by Richard R. George

Produced by special arrangement with THE DRAMATIC PUBLISHING COMPANY of Woodstock, Illinois. A magical peach! An imprisoned boy! Insect friends! An incredible journey! This amazing adventure of James Henry Trotter will fulfill the fantasy of anyone who has ever dreamed of escape. Roald Dahl’s story comes hilariously to life in this delightful dramatization that reveals the wickedness of some, the goodness of others, and the indecision encountered by many when they are faced with crises.

You will see James (as he cleverly gets the Peach out of danger), the wise Old-Green-Grasshopper and the pessimistic Earthworm. You will also see James’ mean Aunt Spiker and cruel Aunt Sponge come to a suitably sticky end. The action is tied together by the Narrator, a storyteller, motivator, emcee and audience friend. Take advantage of the quick costuming, simple props and basic scenery to provide your cast and audience with an exciting, peachy adventure!

Approx. 60 mins in length

Target audience: Young Audiences | Middle School | Family (All Ages)

Genre: Comedy | Farce | Satire
