On March 11th, three candidates from the Florida Democratic Party’s Take Back Local program were elected.

The Take Back Local program is an initiative to provide resources to candidates in competitive local races across the state. Candidates are selected through a rigorous application and vetting process and receive grassroots organizing and fundraising support from the Florida Democratic Party.

The Florida Democratic Party would like to congratulate the following members of the Take Back Local slate on their victories tonight:

  • Michael Hensley, Town of Lake Park Commission
  • Jackie Railey, Coconut Creek City Commission District B
  • Marlene Shaw, Gulfport City Council Ward 2

“Our Take Back Local program is delivering results,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “I’d like to congratulate our candidates on their successful campaigns. Tonight, we flipped a seat on Gulfport City Council and re-elected dedicated public servants to hold the line at the local level. We are doubling down on our support for candidates running competitive and sophisticated campaigns in municipal elections as part of our grassroots organizing strategy. This is how we build back our bench.”
