For the past two years, the Harvard Square Business Association (HSBA), local Cambridge artist Kyoko Ono and Beacon Capital Partners, owners of One Brattle Square, have to coordinated ongoing art exhibits.

The displays are curated by Kyoko and showcased in a shadowbox located on the Eliot Street side of One Brattle Square, a stately building with a distinguished address.

Since its inception, art work, including pottery, paintings and sculptures, have been hand-picked and beautifully presented to the community as “a little gallery in a window”. While all the exhibits have been exceptional, this installation is particularly so, as it features artists who are affiliated with Gateway Arts.

Gateway Arts in Brookline, Mass, is an internationally acclaimed studio art center, gallery, and store supporting meaningful lives and careers in art for adults with disabilities. Since 1973, Gateway Arts has nurtured the creative talents of artists with diverse diagnoses, strengths and needs. This new exhibit will be displayed from mid-September to mid-November. Kyoko worked directly with Bil Thibodeau, the Art Director at Gateway in choosing the pieces. She stated, “I want the space to provide moments of pure appreciation of art as we go about our busy daily lives.”

Denise Jillson, executive director of the HSBA said, “We are honored to be partnered with Kyoko on this ongoing project. We are grateful for the guidance provided by Dawn Gideon of Piedmont REIT, who manages the property and to Beacon Capital for their generosity in allowing the use of this space to celebrate arts and entrepreneurship. We encourage folks seek out this gem, enjoy the display and shop. We are delighted with this project; it is yet another lovely example of the HSBA’s commitment to cultivating and promoting art in the public space, building community and nurturing relationships between stakeholders whose paths may never otherwise cross.”
