Georgia Republicans Supported Trump Cuts that Caused Park Closures

23 parks across the state of Georgia are indefinitely closed before the Memorial Day holiday due to Donald Trump’s drastic budget cuts

Citing staffing shortages and safety concerns, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today announced the indefinite closure of 23 parks across Georgia – which is a direct result of Donald Trump’s budget cuts that were loyally supported by Georgia Republicans. According to a press release issued this morning, the Corps stated, “current staffing levels do not allow us to maintain the necessary safety measures within our parks.”

Today’s announcement comes on the heels of at least 30 other facilities at federal lakes in six states announcing they’re closing or cutting hours as a direct result of Donald Trump’s mass layoffs and federal hiring freeze policy.

“Once again, Georgians are paying the price for Donald Trump’s mismanagement and Georgia Republicans’ propping up his rank incompetence,” said DPG spokesperson Alex Yerkey. “Every barricade turning away Georgia families at the entrance to these parks is a literal concrete example of Donald Trump’s failure and Georgia Republicans’ cowardice.”
