Son of former Commonwealth’s Attorney will take his father’s place

FRANKFORT, KY - On May 22, 2025, Gov. Andy Beshear announced he has appointed Michael Boyd “Bo” Stacy II of Cunningham as Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 1st Judicial Circuit of Kentucky, which comprises Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton and Hickman counties. Bo Stacy replaces his father, Michael B. Stacy, who was the serving Commonwealth’s Attorney for the circuit and who passed away in April.

A graduate of the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law, Stacy has served as Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in the circuit since 2020. His familiarity with the office, its operations and staff is expected to result in a smooth transition with minimal disruption to services or ongoing cases.

Stacy is a graduate of Heath High School in West Paducah and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky prior to attending law school.

“Mike Stacy was a dedicated public servant who cared deeply about the commonwealth,” said Gov. Beshear. “Bo is a great prosecutor, and I know he will do a wonderful job in continuing his dad’s legacy.”

“I’d like to thank Gov. Beshear for his confidence in me,” said Stacy. “I don’t take the responsibilities of this office lightly, and I look forward getting down to work.”
