FRANKFORT, KY - Gov. Andy Beshear has ordered flags at all state buildings lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Thursday, March 27, 2025, in honor of a Kentuckian who died while serving on active duty in the U.S. Army in Germany.

Spc. Chaz R. McGowan of Casey County died March 8 in Grafenwohr, Germany, while on assignment with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment.

A graveside service with full military honors for McGowan will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Cemetery in Liberty.
