Gov. Braun Appoints Daniel Burke to Lake County Superior Court

INDIANAPOLIS - Governor Mike Braun today announced he has selected Lake County Circuit Court Referee and former Lake County Deputy Prosecutor Daniel Burke to serve on the Lake County Superior Court.  

“Daniel Burke is an exceptional lawyer who will bring his years of experience in the courtroom to his new role on the Lake County Superior Court,” Gov. Braun said. “He is hard working, dedicated to the rule of law, and will do Lake County proud.” 

As a Referee for the Lake County Circuit Court, Burke managed the filings for the docket, as well as presided over dissolution of marriage cases, and petitions for orders of protection and civil cases. Prior to his current role, Burke served as the Lake County Deputy Prosecutor in which he appeared in court on a daily bases and primarily handled felonies, including murder and other high profile cases.

"As a lifelong resident of Lake County, I am humbled by the opportunity to continue serving my community," Burke said. "Lake County is a unique and special place, and I look forward to serving her people as long as they will have me."

Burke studied classical studies at DePauw University and earned his Juris Doctorate from Valparaiso University.

Burke is originally from Crown Point, where he and his wife Katherine currently reside with their three children.  

A date for Burke’s swearing in ceremony will be determined at a later time.
