Hey there, Wisconsin! Governor Tony Evers here.

This week, we’re kicking off the 173rd Wisconsin State Fair.

For generations, the Wisconsin State Fair has showcased Wisconsin agriculture, industry, and all that makes our state the great place it is to live, work, and play.

With livestock competitions, art exhibits, live music, shopping, rides on the SkyGlider, and new foods to try, there is something at the State Fair for everybody.

I should know! My wife Kathy and I have gone to the State Fair together for 55 years this year.

And this year is extra special because we’re celebrating 100 years of one of my favorite State Fair traditions: the world-famous Original Cream Puff.

It’s why I’m proclaiming August 10, 2024, Cream Puff Day in Wisconsin as we celebrate 100 years of this time-honored State Fair tradition and all the folks who help make it happen, including the Wisconsin Bakers Association!

A celebration of America’s Dairyland with fresh whipped sweet cream in the middle, the Cream Puff first debuted in the Wisconsin State Fair in 1924 and has been served every year since.

It’s estimated that 50 to 60 cream puffs are purchased every minute during the State Fair—that’s more than 400,000 cream puffs.

I can’t believe it! Can you?

To celebrate, try one of this year’s specialty flavors, stick to the original, or do it “Evers Style” and take a few home like Kathy and I do to put in the freezer and enjoy later!

Whatever you do—get out to the Wisconsin State Fair and celebrate all that makes Wisconsin, Wisconsin.

Thank you.
