From: Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds

Gov. Kim Reynolds issued the following statement after joining President Donald Trump as he signed the “No Men in Women's Sports” executive order:

“I applaud President Trump in his leadership to protect fair competition and allow girls and women to compete on an even playing field,” Gov. Reynolds said. “In 2022, I signed a law to prohibit biological males from competing in girls' sports at all levels, signifying a victory for female athletes in Iowa. I am grateful to President Trump for taking this step to provide the same protections for all girls in sports.”

On March 3, 2022, Gov. Reynolds signed HF 2416 into law, requiring schools to designate sporting events as male, female, or co-ed. As a result, only students who are female according to their birth certificate are eligible to compete in girls' sports.
