From: Texas Governor Greg AbbottGovernor Greg Abbott appointed Shellie Gardner and reappointed Michael P. Henry, D.C. and Scott Wofford, D.C. to the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners for terms set to expire on February 1, 2031. The Board is responsible for regulating the practice of chiropractic in the State of Texas.
Shellie Gardner of Fort Worth is the founder and owner of Christmas Light Source. She volunteered in the Fort Worth art community, spearheaded solar cooking and sustainability efforts in Ethiopia, and supported transitional communities in Seattle. Additionally, she is a member of Rotary International and a longtime advocate for local and global causes. Gardner received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University and is pursuing a Master of Theology at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Michael P. Henry, D.C. of Austin is a practicing chiropractor and the CEO of TexStar Chiropractic and has served as a Designated Doctor with the Division of Workers’ Compensation. He was named “Young Chiropractor of the Year” by the Texas Chiropractic Association (TCA) in 2017 and honored as “Alumnus of the Year” by Parker University in 2022. He is a member of TCA and the American Chiropractic Association (ACA). Henry received a Bachelor of Science from The University of Texas at Austin and a Doctor of Chiropractic from Parker University in Dallas.
Scott Wofford, D.C. of Abilene is a chiropractor and owner of West Texas Back Clinic. He is a member, past state director, and past president of TCA and a member of ACA. He has received several lifetime accomplishment awards including “Young Chiropractor of the Year" in 2002 from the TCA, "D.C. of the Year" from Parker University, and the "Keeler Plaque" from TCA, both in 2020. Wofford received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of New York and a Doctor of Chiropractic from Parker University in Dallas.
These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Texas Senate.
