Recognizes FFA Week in Montana

Helena, MT – Governor Greg Gianforte recently proclaimed February as Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month in Montana, highlighting the importance of hands-on learning and workforce training in preparing students for high-demand careers.

“Montana’s economy depends on a strong, skilled workforce, and career and technical education provides students with the tools they need to succeed,” said Gov. Gianforte. “From welding and healthcare to information technology and agriculture, CTE programs equip students with real-world skills that lead to high-paying jobs right here in Montana.”

Earlier this month, Gov. Gianforte joined students in the rotunda of the Montana State Capitol to proclaim CTE Month, welcoming students and representatives from Montana’s Career and Technical Student Organizations, including FFA, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Business Professionals of America, DECA, SkillsUSA, and HOSA Future Health Professionals.

Strengthening Montana’s workforce and expanding opportunities for students through career and technical education are top priorities for the governor.

CTE Month highlights the role of technical education in Montana’s schools, including apprenticeships, dual-credit programs, and industry-recognized certifications that help students transition directly into the workforce or continue their education.

Gov. Gianforte this week also signed a proclamation recognizing FFA Week in Montana to highlight the impact of agricultural education in Montana’s communities. With over 109 FFA chapters and 6,600 members across the state, Montana FFA plays a critical role in fostering leadership, career readiness, and innovation in agriculture.

“Agriculture is the backbone of our state, and FFA is shaping the next generation of leaders in this industry,” Gov. Gianforte added. “These young men and women are gaining valuable experience in agribusiness, science, and technology, ensuring Montana’s agricultural legacy remains strong for years to come.”

Throughout February, Montana schools and communities will host events and activities to showcase CTE programs and celebrate FFA members’ contributions. The governor encourages Montanans to support students pursuing technical careers and to recognize the role of agricultural education in shaping the state’s future.
