From: Montana Governor Greg Gianforte

Helena, MT – Governor Greg Gianforte on Feb 13th, released the following statement in response to reports U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents recently arrested six members and associates of the Tren de Aragua gang in Bozeman.

“Thanks to President Donald J. Trump, communities across Montana and America are seeing safer streets and a more secure southern border. Gang members who participate in violent crime disrupt our communities and threaten the safety of Montanans. I am grateful for the agents who are actively pursuing these dangerous terrorists. These actions stand in stark contrast to the open border policy championed by the Biden administration.

“Montana joins President Trump in sending a clear message that Tren de Aragua and other violent criminals have no place in our country.”

Tren de Aragua is described by the Department of Homeland Security as “a brutal transnational criminal street gang.” As of October 2024, members of Tren de Aragua had been detected in eight states, including one member responsible for the murder of Laken Riley in Georgia.
