TOPEKA – Last week, Governor Laura Kelly announced Kansas-based Integra Technologiesplans to invest $1.8 billion in a large-scale semiconductor facility in Wichita region. This is the second-largest private investment in Kansas history.

KEY QUOTE: “As the second-largest private investment in Kansas history, this project will be transformative for our state’s economy, providing over 5,000 high-paying jobs that will help more Kansans create better lives for themselves and their children. Integra’s investment is further proof that we have put Kansas on the map, establishing our state on the forefront of innovation and national security.”
-Governor Laura Kelly

Here's what they're saying:

“The CHIPS Act invests in businesses around the country to produce key technologies, such as semiconductors, here at home. Integra has shown Kansas will be an integral part of the solution to keep our national supply chains safe.”
- U.S. Senator Jerry Moran

“Kansas is doubling down on its commitment to be at the forefront of this emerging and innovative industry. Integra’s plans matched perfectly with the state’s push to diversify our economy and we couldn’t be happier they chose to make this investment right in their backyard.”
- David Toland, Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce

“The semiconductors we work on are in multiple space applications, such as the Mars Rover and Hubble Telescope; more than 100 Department of Defense programs of record; as well as commercial applications that power everyday life. On behalf of our employee-owners, we are especially grateful for Governor Kelly, Lt. Governor Toland, and Kansas legislative leadership on the State Finance Council for supporting Integra with its premier economic development program, positioning us to transform domestic Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test services while expanding in our home state.”
- Brett Robinson, Integra Technologies President and CEO

“APEX exists to promote unique large-scale opportunities for economic and job growth, and there is no better way to do that than having a Kansas company step up and fulfill our commitment to boost the Kansas economy and grow the Kansas workforce. Wichita is increasingly the epicenter of critical global industries, and this exciting megaproject continues that proud tradition.”
- Senate President Ty Masterson

“Last week’s announcement once again highlights our governor’s ability to negotiate long-term projects that will benefit our state for years to come. This project leverages federal and private funds to maximize the state’s investment, and will result in nearly 5,000 good-paying jobs in Wichita. And it will benefit all Kansans – and all Americans – by re-centering the semiconductor industry right here in the heartland, which will drive down prices for consumers.”
- Senate Minority Leader Dinah Sykes

“As a long-time resident of Wichita, I couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity with Integra. Our region hasn’t seen something this transformative in years. By bringing the new sector of chip testing to our area and adding 2,000 new, high-paying jobs, the possibilities are endless. I’m thrilled to be a part of helping make this happen for our residents,”
- Speaker of the House Dan Hawkins

“As a Wichitan, I’m thrilled for my community that our city will once again be the epicenter of our country’s national security by bringing this critical industry home. Semiconductors power so much in our daily lives, including the planes that first put Wichita on the map as the aviation capital of the world. This project stands to bring new jobs and expand business for existing suppliers in our area, which will have positive economic ripples across the city.”
- Senator Mary Ware, District 25

“I’m thrilled that Integra Technologies has chosen to expand here in Wichita. I am very proud to work alongside Governor Kelly as the state invests in our city, particularly on projects like Integra. The governor’s balanced yet revitalizing approach to everyday problems is right in-line with my district. I frequently heard concerns about workforce development and ‘brain drain’ on the campaign trail, and this investment helps to secure Wichita’s position as a leader on the frontlines of technological innovation. It’ll be exciting to see this come together for my district and my city.”
- Rep. Silas Miller, District 86

“Wichita has grown so much under Governor Kelly’s leadership. Investing in the future of technology is a smart move for Kansas, and Wichita couldn’t be a better location for Integra to continue expanding. I’m proud of my city and all that it offers culturally, economically, socially, and beyond – I look forward to the jobs this move will bring and I am excited to have Wichita, and Kansas on the front lines of innovation. The future looks bright.”
- Rep. Angela Martinez, District 103
