From: Oklahoma Governor J Kevin StittOn Friday, May 02, 2025, Governor Kevin Stitt announced the appointment of Becky Carson to the Oklahoma State Board of Education. A dedicated educator, Carson brings over three decades of classroom experience and a deep passion for serving students to her new role.
"Becky Carson has spent her career making a difference in the lives of Oklahoma children, especially those with special needs," said Governor Stitt. "Her commitment to doing what’s best for students and her proven leadership will make her an outstanding addition to the State Board of Education."
Carson is a retired special education teacher who spent 30 years planning and implementing individualized programs for students with mild disabilities in grades 3 through 5. Throughout her career, she closely monitored student progress, maintained strong communication with parents and education teams, and ensured students received the care and attention they needed. She holds an Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education, Learning Disability, Mentally Handicapped, and Physically Handicapped areas.
In addition to her career in education, she has successfully owned and operated several businesses over the past 16 years. Carson earned her master's degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1986.
"I am honored to serve on the State Board of Education,” said Carson. “Throughout my career, I’ve always believed that every child deserves a chance to reach their full potential. I am committed, dependable, and ready to help ensure every Oklahoma student has the opportunity to succeed."
Carson's appointment is subject to confirmation by the Oklahoma Senate.
