From: Oregon Governor Tina KotekSalem, OR — On May 5th, Governor Tina Kotek issued a proclamation declaring May 5, 2025, as Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP) Awareness Day.
“Last year, the First Lady and I had the honor of visiting all nine sovereign Tribal nations. We met with families of Tribal citizens who are missing or murdered,” Governor Kotek said. “On May 5th, we honor the Indigenous women, girls, men, and two-spirit relatives who have been taken from their families. We stand with communities who grieve, who continue to search, and who keep memories alive through red dresses, ceremony, and advocacy. Their strength calls us to remember and to act.”
