From: Delaware Governor Matt MeyerWILMINGTON - On April 22, 2025, Governor Matt Meyer announced the nomination of Jameson Tweedie to serve as Public Advocate for the State of Delaware. Tweedie is an environmental lawyer with extensive experience working for the State of Delaware on issues of energy and climate. His nomination will require confirmation by the Delaware State Senate.
“Amidst soaring energy costs, everyday Delawareans and small businesses need someone at the table fighting on their behalf,” said Governor Matt Meyer. “As Delaware’s Public Advocate, Jameson Tweedie will hold utility companies accountable by aggressively challenging unfair rate hikes while advocating for greater affordability and transparency. He will work to maintain consumer-friendly policies and ensure our state’s most vulnerable populations are not left behind as we continue to meet our state’s energy needs.”

About the Nominee:
Jameson Tweedie, Nominee, Delaware Public Advocate
Jameson Tweedie is an environmental lawyer, focusing on climate and energy law, and is currently a Senior Staff Attorney at the State Energy & Environmental Impact Center at NYU School of Law.
He previously spent six years in the Environmental Unit of the Delaware Department of Justice, representing the State on climate, energy, and other environmental topics. Jameson served as primary counsel to DNREC’s Division of Climate, Coastal and Energy, advising on numerous legislative and regulatory matters, as well as the State’s first Climate Action Plan, the Delaware Climate Solutions Act of 2023, and the Delaware Energy Solutions Act of 2024. He has reviewed energy cases before the Public Service Commission and has helped craft agreements to increase the supply of energy into Delaware.
Jameson has been a member of the Delaware bar since 2006 and, before working for the State, spent a decade in private practice at two Wilmington law firms. Jameson has held leadership positions in the Delaware State Bar Association’s Environment Section and the Committee on Climate Change, Sustainable Development and Ecosystems of the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources.
Jameson graduated from Middlebury College, *** laude, with an A.B. in Geography and Computer Science (2001), and after teaching geography for two years, earned his J.D., magna *** laude, from Washington & Lee University School of Law (2006). During law school, he served as Lead Articles Editor for the Washington & Lee Law Review.
